‘Hi friends! Hope you are all doing just great. Don’t mind the weather, it’s just good for the ‘I don’t joke with my sleep’ squad. On the brightest side, Happy belated birthday🎉🎉🎉 to My pretty local Pusag President, Maame Nuamaa. It’s been great knowing you girl! The biggest thank you to Doris, for her beautiful picture for this write-up. Isn’t she lovely? It couldn’t have been better without you girl.😊
Proverbs 9:11- For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.
Out of 365 or 366 days in a year, we all have one day which is our ‘birth’-‘day’. The love from friends, family, classmates and even the frenemies is just overwhelming. If you had the opportunity to live in Ridge, Spintex or East Legon and attended any of the ‘dadabee‘ International schools in Ghana during childhood, then you would have memories of you being the special one in the class on your birthday. No one would dare pick a fight with you on that day. Your hairstyle alone would tell the security man or the nosey janitor it’s your special day.
Personally, I love birthdays; the cake(on my!😀), well-wishes(where I get to say more than 1000 ‘thank you’) and sometimes the surprises. We all have that one friend who would remind you that it’s your day so don’t make anything ruin it. You might be worried that the person you expect to send a text or call to wish you a ‘Happy Birthday’ hasn’t done that. It’s your day, honey! Don’t ruin it. Stephy would always say, ‘it’s just 24 hours o so Enjoy every bit of it when it comes’. Smile, laugh, Jump, join the birthday photoshoot trend, just have fun but in all these, Don‘t forget to Pray.
Prayer is the Key🔑 that would open doors for you. Mrs Sylvia Asempa, former headmistress of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School used to remind her students that the name of the school would open doors for them. Pray Consistently and this key will open many doors for you; you will get the opportunity others are having a tough time getting! 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says ‘Pray without ceasing‘. When you are sick-pray, beginning the semester-pray, about to eat-pray, going to the library-pray and on your birthday–Pray. Don‘t wait till the Professor annouces a test before you start calling the name of the Lord. On your big day, Pray.
Your day shouldn’t be about how on-point you want your photoshoot to be or how wavy your Peruvian hair looks in your pictures or the ‘dope’, ‘hot’ or other unnecessary comments your friends would post on Instagram when the pictures are finally uploaded. Don’t be bothered if your pictures are not displayed on snapchat or the whatsapp status’ of your friends. These birthday photoshoots come with their own package; the poses alone! Mehn! If you want it then be ready and make sure you have different poses. But remember, you saw the rainy morning of your birthday not because you are pretty, a geek, the best guitarist in your youth choir or holier than many others who couldn’t live to see last year’s Christmas day. It’s just by the Grace of God so don’t be obsessed about having a photoshoot just because your closest friend had it. It’s not a bad idea to have a photoshoot but don’t make it a do or die thing. Don’t do it because everyone else is doing it. When you set priorities in life, you wouldn’t make a photoshoot a big deal especially on your birthday.
It’s the grace of God that has kept you this far so dedicate some good time to the Lord. Pray, Fast, Share your day with people who hardly get a day’s meal. It will be just lovely.
To mums who want their kids to have the photoshoot as well; it’s all good. While you are busy planning decorations, ordering the cake🎂 and of course finally the photography, dedicate sometime to pray for your child.
Get on your knees, and Pray! What’s the point in stressing the little one with a photoshoot when you haven’t even said ‘thank you Lord, she’s one’?
Psalm 92:1- It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to thy name, O most High
Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God answers prayers. Years to come, faith-filled parents would be glad they prayed for their kids. Just because you are a Journalist, Lawyer, Teacher, Nurse, Engineer or a Reverend Minister doesn‘t guarantee your child‘s success in life.
- Pray that your child will be pure as he grows.
- Pray for the teachers who will teach him in school.
- Pray for the friends he has or is yet to make.
- Pray that he will be willing to serve in the house of God.
Do this because you can’t hide your child from what the world holds.
Do this with Faith!
On your birthday, you know what to do….. PRAY!
